Help us build a walking labyrinth at La Puerta Natural Burial Ground
We are building a labyrinth! We invite anyone who would like to come out and help us create this beautiful, meditative space for people to enjoy while visiting La Puerta.
Here are the event details:
WHAT - We will be building a permanent, walking labyrinth out of stones for public use at La Puerta. We will also be planting some native plants around the labyrinth. A meander labyrinth is a complex, and circuitous path that guides you to a single, final destination. Labyrinths have been used and depicted in art throughout the world, and throughout human history. Walking the twists and turns of a labyrinth can provide a sense of calm, and is sometimes used as a meditative practice.
WHEN - Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 8:00 am-12:00 pm
WHERE - La Puerta Natural Burial Ground (see our Directions page for detailed directions to La Puerta)
HOW - You will be helping to move small to medium stones (~5-10 lbs each) to make the labyrinth path. We will have set up an outline of where the stones will be placed, and you will essentially be tracing that outline with the stones. We will also ask some people to help plant native plants in the area around the labyrinth. Holes for the plants will already be made. If you feel like you are not physically able to do these tasks, you are still welcome to come and provide moral support and make sure people are staying hydrated!
